Bramanti (realtime processing).
Sinistri++ is a live collaboration project carried on by italian trio
Sinistri
(formerly known as Starfuckers)
and sound artist Dino Bramanti.
Sinistri++ is aimed at extending in space and dissecting in time the
fractured, disarticulated avant funk drive from Sinistri through Dino
Bramanti's real time processing network. The concept behind the project
is the search for an interaction between what is actually played using
traditional instruments and its further possible de-composition, fragmentation,
rebuilding and dislocation performed in real time using custom processing
network. The concept behind Sinistri++ is the addition of other possibilities,
dimensions and "channels" to raw Sinistri core, where the
idea of "adding channels" is open to multiple and diverse
intuitive implementation. It can be a simple live processing dimension
added to the trio's sound, reacting/opposing/interacting with it, or
a multichannel live sound spatialisation, physical dislocation of musicians
and so on. The project is part of a long term research from Sinistri/Starfuckers,
exploring strategies and techniques of dissociation between the musician's
will and the music itself he is creating. The musician's intention is
separated from the actual sound he is producing with his instruments
and hence he is stimulated to give up with the concept of having an
intention caging the sounds itself. Nobody, neither Sinistri nor Dino
Bramanti, have full, end to end knowledge about the whole process as
it happens. As a result, the music is freed from the intentions and
becomes something independent, almost autonomous from the musicians
involved in its creation.
This project (with some implementative variants) has been premiered
at Raum in Bologna, in November 2004 within Desco Music live series
and has been performed in May 2005 within Placard Festival, Bologna
edition, hosted by Galleria Neon.
